Grow Acceptance

Our communities are the first place we look for support, comradery and to even share new thoughts and ideas. Each of us is a part of many different types of communities. We connect with people where we live, work, as a member of a club and online. Below are ideas to help you grow acceptance in your communities:

Plan a Dress Down DayMessages placed on walls lining an entryway, water cooler areas and lunch rooms at workplaces have just as much visibility as bumper stickers and billboards and are often underutilized.

Stores & Restaurants

Restaurant Awareness FundraisierWe all rely on pharmacies, grocery and convenience stores to grab the things we need. People also frequent salons, barber shops, retail stores and restaurants.

Parks & Recreation

Many neighborhoods have recreation areas that offer playgrounds, tracks and ball fields. Whether you play a sport or cheer on your local team, there is a great opportunity to grow acceptance.

  • Hand out Autism Awareness temporary tattoos at sporting events
  • Host an awareness game and ask players to wear awareness gear while you share information in common areas and at the concession stand
  • Tie awareness ribbons around trees or light poles
