Workshop Description:

Accessing Adult Services:  As educational entitlements come to an end, it is imperative parents plan not only to maximize services in the final years of their child’s special education programs, but also to ensure appropriate services are received once the school bus stops coming.  This workshop will discuss parents’ rights and school obligations under the IDEA transition requirements.  The presenter will also provide information about government programs and services which are vital when an individual with autism turns 18 and 21.  Access to SSI, Medicaid and Medicaid Waivers, DDD, DVRS, day and residential services will be discussed.  Presented by: Hinkle, Fingles, Prior & Fisher

Autism Policy in New Jersey:  Autism New Jersey’s public policy team serves as a collective and influential voice in Trenton. We regularly meet with legislative and executive branch leaders, including Committee Chairs, Cabinet Officials, and autism-specific legislative champions, to help craft laws and regulations that provide more meaningful outcomes for individuals with autism.  The presenters will discuss Autism New Jersey’s public policy process, current legislative and regulatory activity, and future policy priorities. Presented by:  Suzanne Buchanan, Psy.D., BCBA-D and Eric Eberman, M.S.Ed., of Autism New Jersey

The workshop is free to attend, but registration is required.
