Sibling Connections:   Celebrating the Differences

WebsiteAttention Siblings!  You have a special connection to autism.  What does having a sibling with autism mean to you?  How does it affect your life?   What makes having a brother or sister with autism special?  Your sibling is different from you and your relationship is different, too.  Tell us how they are different and why are those differences important to you. 

Participate in our 2016 Sibling Essay Contest  

Essays will be published on our website and winners will be invited to read their essay at an Autism New Jersey event. 

Who can enter?

Contest is open to anyone with a brother or sister diagnosed with autism and who is in grades 4 through 12. Winners will be selected in the following categories: 

  • 4th through 6th Grade
  • 7th through 9th Grade
  • 10th through 12th Grade


Autism New Jersey will select one finalist from each age group to receive a $25 gift card.  A judging panel of Autism New Jersey staff and board members will select winners. Winners will be announced the week of May 2nd and will be invited to read their essay at an upcoming Autism New Jersey event.  All essays will be posted on Autism New Jersey’s website and the winning essays will be featured in an Autism New Jersey E-blast (sent to 10,000) and on our Facebook Page.  


Essays must be received by May 15, 2016.

Complete the form below and email your essay (as a Word Document, please) and a photo (.jpg) of you and your sibling to
