Public Policy Agenda:  Fee for Service Transition

Autism New Jersey is actively monitoring the many challenges that exist for families and providers as adults with autism move from a system in which provider agencies had contracts with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) into a Fee-for-Service system that brings many challenges and changes. We are pleased to be a member of the Fee-for-Service Oversight Board that will summarize and report to the Governor and Legislature on the availability, continuity, and quality of care throughout the transition.

Autism New Jersey’s Public Policy Team was an active participant in the dialogue regarding rate setting, including behavioral provider rates and the inclusion of an “acuity factor” to account for higher costs associated with individuals with complex and specialized behavioral needs. We are continuing to evaluate and monitor how the DDD rolls out the Fee-for-Service transition and collecting feedback from families and providers.

For the latest updates from the Division about this transition, visit the Division’s Fee-for-Service Implementation web page.

The transition to Fee-for-Service has been in the works for a number of years and marks a huge system change for the Division. As we receive new information, we will pass it along to our members and stakeholders. If you have any other questions, call 800.4.AUTISM or email
