Advocates Rally to Secure Competitive DSP Wages

May 15, 2019

Autism New Jersey joined hundreds of members of the Coalition for a DSP Living Wage and other advocates in front of the NJ State House in Trenton yesterday to show the importance of securing a competitive DSP starting wage.

“A living wage for DSPs is a critical component of ensuring the safety and well-being of thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities,” said Autism New Jersey Executive Director Dr. Suzanne Buchanan. “It was inspiring to see so many DSPs and self-advocates urging state government to respond to this growing crisis.”

$54 million is needed in the FY2020 budget to secure a competitive starting wage for DSPs that is 25% above minimum wage. Learn more>>
